Activities at Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra 2016-17

BGVK focuses on rights based approach in its area of operation. It provides information on various schemes and projects of the government, thus educating the people about their rights and developing their capacities.
The institution has ten staff members: one coordinator for MNREGS, three are working for Marathwada project, one is working for Vep, Health mission & Children’s Parliament, one In-charge of the training centre, one in-charge of the goatery & farm, one driver, one accountant, and one watchman. The staff is good in establishing report with the villagers especially with the youth and in conducting training programs.
Awareness programs are conducted in all the villages for people’s development and empowerment. BGVK village education program for primary school and children’s parliament and health mission are conducted in the villages of Ahmednagar, benefitting several children and people. Adult literacy program is conducted for the SHG members by the organization.
Various trainings are organized for the youth, School Management committee members and members of Gram Panchayat. Training in Panchayati Raj institutions, Gramsabha, BPL criteria, NREGS, Right to Education, and right to information were conducted for various groups by BGVK. NREGS trainings helped people to demand for work from their Panchayat. Training in Panchayat Raj has helped to increase the participation of women in Gramsabhas.
BGVK has acquired extensive experience in the field of natural resource management and community development. This experience can be directed to shape the organization into a center of excellence, with an emphasis on innovation, networking and the preparation of a cadre of rural development professionals.
Health mission: In 30 villages Health mission being conducted to create awareness among rural people and to motivate cleanliness and sanitation through meetings and health camps. Health awareness programmes are conducted to maintain personal and community hygiene.
The village Education program (VEP): The objectives of the program are to encourage the children of class 1 to 5 children to attend the school regularly, to enhance education, health care, reduce the drop-out rate and encourage the drop out children to re-enroll themselves in the school. From these 30 villagers, one person each was trained in Health mission, Vep and children’s parliament assigned to work as animators with a suitable stipend.
Children’s Parliament: Child Rights, Educational Guidance & Developing Self Governance among the Secondary and Higher Secondary Children: Awareness program on child rights, career guidance, leadership, personality development, protection of environment and information about local self government by promoting children’s panchayats and parliament were conducted in 30 villagesof Ahmednagar and Beed districts: age group 12 to 16 years children.
As neighbourhood ministry: As neighbourhood ministry, BGVK participate regularly in the Value Education programme and Eco-Friendly. BGVK offered its’ help to the Schools to promote awareness on Value Education and Eco- Friendly in the area of the Ahmednagar region. Detailed plan was presented to the Principals, Teachers and students.
Programme for youth: In 20 villages Need Based Skill Trainings (Life Skills: Driving, Tailoring and beauty parlor) are imparted to the youth for self employment.
Pratham Foundation: a non-governmental organization has signed a contract with BGVK that will last for three years. The NGO conducts technical courses massion, bar bending for the local youth, taking fresh students every three months with an assurance of job placement.
Community Based Programs: Community based programs are aimed to develop local leadership by participating in the local self government and implementing various governmental schemes like the MNREGS, the MNREGS the government of Ahmednagar has given to us to follow up the work, in 11 talukas. Right to Education and NRHM, and 102 self help groups are being monitored in 46 villages.
Farm: In the farm we have started goatery (with 70 of them) and according to the session we too cultivate the farm like wheat, anions, maze etc.
Trainings: During the year in the house there are two types of training programmes goes on one is we conduct training programme for the people on various issues, the second one is we rent out the place for the other NGOs.
Project Marathwada: Along with the normal activities of Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, January 2012 onwards it has also got project Marthwada under its umbrella. Project Marathwada caters to the five districts i.e. Ahmednagar, Beed, Parbhani, Jalna and Aurangabad. In each district one taluka has been selected from which 20 – 25 villages are been selected for this project. Each taluka has got one coordinator and two field staff. Altogether there are 19 staff including accountant and a driver and two Salesians.
The objectives of Project Marathwada are as follows: To organise village communities into village-and group level associations that are capable of analysing their problems and securing their rights, To enable the youth of the area to upgrade their vocational skills and access suitable skills and access suitable skill development programmes and job opportunities, To enable the people in the project villages to improve the quality of education in their area, To improve the health status of people in the project area.
